Thunderbolt 3.0 for Windows 10 looks like a promising new technology for audio professionals. Having dealt with latency while recording virtual instruments for years, I'm excited that latency issues could become a thing of the past. In addition, guitarist might be able to track with amp simulator plug ins in real time. Thunderbolt 3.0 would allow recording OTG (on-the-go) using the DAW to track virtual drums and guitars, all in the box. Windows has acknowledged Thunderbolt support for audio, and drivers will be released from MOTU soon. Hopefully other audio manufacturers will follow. I'm just hoping that new Windows Thunderbolt 3.0 drivers will provide a stable experience when recording audio and virtual instruments using small buffers and low latency.
